Multicultural Youth Tasmania (MYT) works in partnership with young people, government and non-government organisations to promote the needs and interests of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds. MYT is a partner organisation of the Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network of Australia https://myan.org.au/about-us/. MYAN works in partnership with young people, government and civil society to promote the rights and interests of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds and ensure these are recognised in policy and practice.
MYT Stakeholder Network
MYT provides quarterly updates to our Tasmanina stakeholder network. This includes community leaders and people working within an education, health or community setting, youth sector and sports and recreation sector.

MYT Youth Advisory Group
The Youth Advisory Group brings together passionate young advocates to support positive change in the lives of refugee and migrant young people across Tasmania. The group is comprised of members from a diversity of faith, gender, age, linguistic, ethnicity, migration, life and educational experiences. MYAN TAS Youth Advisory Group participants:
Participate in quarterly meetings to inform the work of the MYAN TAS
Undertake leadership and advocacy training
Facilitate a state level advocacy activity per year
Contribute to statewide youth consultations to ensure the voice of multicultural young people is represented in youth policy and strategy in Tasmania.

MYAN Short Film Series Trailer
MYAN’s short film series captures young people’s stories and experiences of settling in Australia. Produced in partnership with Dr David Corlett, acclaimed filmmaker and host of SBS’ Go Back To Where You Came From, the 9 films feature young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds talking about leaving their country, arriving in Australia, what helped them settle in Australia, belonging, identity and aspirations for the future. These films are part of MYAN’s resources supporting the National Youth Settlement Framework.

Get outside Tasmania 2018 – BigHart
In early 2018 the MYAN TAS Youth Advisory Group, in collaboration with the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service ‘Get Outside Program’, spent a weekend of adventure and leadership training at the Far South Wilderness Camp in Dover. Check out this inspirational film about Get Outside, which was filmed by BigHart during the 3 day camp.
